GTA V should be at least twice the size of Skyrim in terms of playable area. I dont think there will be much of a difference, both worlds are very different.

I will literally play this for the next 2 years if it works. If you walk at a faster pace or have the means to get from point A to point B faster, sometimes the size won't really make the world seem better in the sense of grandiose or scale. It’s 1.5 times bigger than the 81 km2 of GTA V, 3.3 times the 41 km2 of Red Dead Redemption. The GTAV world, no doubt.
You sound like you've never flown across Skyrim on the back of a dragon... Hard to say considering we don't have a true sense of scale of the GTA V map. From there, we take a huge leap in size to Minecraft’s unfathomably large 4,096,000,000 km2 map, before going straight up cosmic with No Man’s Sky’s galactic sandbox of 18 Quintillion planets tallying up to 31,7000,000,000,000,000,000,000 km2. 21days! Look at Elite Dangerous, so bloody huge but with not much to do in it.
Thing is, Skyrim had a lot of minor details spread throughout the world, and a lot of different caves/ruins/dragon burial sights/etc to look at. How much of that is just going to be filler? Skyrim isn't very big when you think about it. For PlayStation 3 on the PlayStation 3, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "GTA V map size vs Skyrim? Size matters not.
