Like other Gaardner books it is a bit bizarre, but this one comes together in the end. The ending is cute, but after chasing along with Frank to his "ending" in his letters to Vera, the postscript stroll by John Spooke just feels a bit unsatisfying.
Gaarder is a masterful author, quickly becomign one of my favorites as I read more of his work. Click here for the lowest price!

As always, the writing was impeccable. i did not enjoy the endless conversations between frank and gordon the gecko, nor the exchanges between fr. It was quite interesting.
I really wanted to enjoy it, if that makes sense? This is the second novel I've read by Gaarder. This is the kind of book that I wanted to keep reading because I was waiting for a 'wow moment' but I never really found that moment. Light stuff like that…, To be honest with you, this is a Jostein Gaarder book, so I was going to either be blown away by it or, at the very least, mildly like it. One of the strangest reading experiences I've had in a long time. The second half of the book is the meaty story part -- the mystery, the chase, the love story, the climax and then a sharp turn t. I can't decide if I liked this book or not.
